If you have contacts in an email account other than Smith & Associates email, you should be able to export them to a file in order to import them into your CRM account. Below are instructions on how to export contacts from a Gmail and Yahoo account. Exporting from other systems will be similar, but not exact.

Once you've got your contacts export file in a .csv format, you can follow the steps for importing contacts. Before you import, it’s a good idea to open your list in Excel and review it for people who you may not want to include. If you find some, make the changes and save the document as a new file (use “Save As” and change the file type to CSV – comma separated values).

Personal Google Accounts:

1. Login to your personal Gmail account through a web browser. Once logged in, click the “Mail” and then choose “Contacts” from the drop down menu.

2. Click on “More” and then click the “Export” from the drop down list.

3. From the “Export” window, select the group of contacts you’d like to export (The system will select all contacts by default). Then make sure that “Google CSV” file format is selected. When ready, click “Export” to continue.

4. The file will be saved to your computer. Depending on the browser you’re using and your computer’s settings, you may or may not be prompted to choose where the file will be saved.

5. Once the file is saved, you can follow the steps for importing contacts located HERE. Before you import, it’s a good idea to open your list in Excel and review it for people who you may not want to include. If you find some, make the changes and save the document as a new file (use “Save As” and change the file type to CSV – comma separated values).

iCloud Accounts:

1. Login to your personal iCloud account through a web browser. Once logged in, click “Contacts” on the main menu.

2. Once your contact list loads, the first contact in your list will automatically be selected. Scroll to the bottom of your contact list to see the last contact available.  While holding down the “Shift” key on your keyboard, click the last contact. This should select all contacts in your list.

3. You should now see a total count of the contacts you have selected in the top right hand side of your screen. If all of your contacts are not selected, try again.

4. Once you’ve confirmed all your contacts are selected, click the gear icon in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. From the options which appear, select “Export vCard”. A file containing all the information for your contacts will be downloaded to your computer. Depending on your settings, you may be prompted to choose where the file is saved.

5. The file is currently saved in a vCard format, which unfortunately cannot be directly imported into the CRM. However, if you email the downloaded file to Andrew at andrew@smithandassociates.com and he can easily convert the file to the correct format for you.

Yahoo Accounts:

1. Login to your Yahoo email through a web browser. Once logged in, click the “Contacts” icon to view your list.

2. From the “Contacts” page, click the “Actions” drop down list.

3. Select “Export” from the drop down list which appears.

4. Select “Yahoo CSV” from the drop down list which appears and then click “Export Now.”

5. The file will be saved to your computer. Depending on the browser you’re using and your computer’s settings, you may or may not be prompted to choose where the file will be saved.
